Herbalife Releases Second Global Sustainability Report | Herbalife South Africa
New Report Underscores the Global Health and Wellness Company’s Commitments to Products, People and Planet
EMEA, July 25, 2023 – Premier health and wellness company, Herbalife, today released its second global sustainability report: Live Your Best Life. The report covers the impacts the company made from 2021 to 2022 and provides transparency into its sustainable business practices and commitments across three priority areas: quality products, healthy people and communities, and a thriving planet.
“Herbalife is built on a proud legacy of helping people live their best lives and today this purpose is more important than ever”, says Michael Johnson, chairman and CEO of Herbalife. “As we look to the future, we’re modernising our business to meet the needs of our distributors, customers, employees, investors and communities while meeting our commitments to sustainable and integrated business practices and products that improve the overall health of our communities and the impact on our planet”.
Prioritising the areas where the company can have the greatest impact, Herbalife’s global sustainability strategy focuses on environmental stewardship, social responsibility and transparent governance practices. This strategy is informed by stakeholder priorities, enterprise risks and is aligned with the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs).
In 2022, Herbalife conducted a formal stakeholder assessment to gather insights on its sustainability performance, priorities and how the company could enhance its sustainability transparency and reporting. This assessment helped Herbalife to identify the most significant sustainability issues facing the company.
Herbalife’s 2021-2022 global sustainability report highlights the company’s achievements in the EMEA and India region and across each of its three priority areas, including:

- The Power of Nutrition. Herbalife and the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF) partnered with NGO The Power of Nutrition Foundation from 2022 to support the reduction of childhood stunting by providing essential nutrition and health services to children and mothers in Rwanda.
- The Hunger Project (THP). We supported NGO The Hunger Project’s work in Africa and South Asia from 2019. This partnership supports sustainable community-based food and nutrition programmes, a dynamic centre of community mobilisation and a facility built by local community members. In 2021 and 2022, the THP programmes supported by funding from the HNF reached 60,000 people.
- Providing healthy recipes to communities. In the U.K., we partnered with two community non-profit organisations, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, and the Tottenham Food Hub to develop and deliver healthy recipes to the community to encourage healthy eating for families. In 2022, we donated 2,000 recipe cards to the Food Hub.
- In Spain, Herbalife is a sponsor and organizer of Young Business Talents, a free educational programme that provides hands-on business experience for young people. Through the use of a virtual business simulator, thousands of people across Spain can practice working and leading a business through collaboration, leadership and decision making. By getting real-world experience, students are better prepared to successfully start and develop their own entrepreneurial ventures.
