Zhen-Yu Chen

Biography
Dr. Zhen-Yu Chen is a member of the Nutrition Advisory Board. He is also a chair professor and division head for the graduate division of the School of Life Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research is focused on nutrition and food chemistry.
Dr. Chen is a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in the United Kingdom and the American Chemical Society’s Division of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. Before he joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he worked in Health Canada’s Nutrition Research Division, Health Protection Branch from 1992 to 1994. Dr. Chen has published more than 250 original scientific papers in the field of nutrition and food chemistry. He is also an associate editor of Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry and serves as a member of seven editorial boards, including Food & Function and Journal of Functional Foods.
Dr. Chen is a graduate of Henan Normal University in China and has a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He did his postdoctoral training in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto. Dr. Chen honors a healthy, active lifestyle by hiking, fishing and playing basketball.
